I , object | body image research exhibition

I , object is a practice-based PhD exhibition using clay and illustration to explore Western women’s body image. It consists of two spaces: one features the community table dressed with objects made by myself and the women involved in the research. They intend to further critical conversations around cultural body image pressures and influences, and how the social construct of body image affects us all in different ways. The foyer area exhibits autoethnographic object illustrations of my personal experience. Locating the childhood home as an influential environment on the forming of my body image preoccupation, it highlights how this personal space is also situated within wider cultural body image discourse.
